Neighbourhood Watch

Basic participant:
– Meet with once or twice a year with a few immediate neighbours (organised by the the block captain) to learn about each others schedules and what is normal/abnormal for events around their house.
– then be vigilant for things out of the ordinary
– inform your block captain if you are to be away for a while or expect something unusual (contractors going in and out of your house for instance)
– inform the block captain if you observe/experience suspicious activity or crime

Block captain:
– organise the little (about 10 households) meetings to get to know each other and routines
– pass news warnings up to and down from area coordinators
– be a basic participant

Area coordinators: (currently one for the North end and one for the South end of the neighbourhood)
– bring news to the watch committee and broadcast warnings or news from London’s neighbourhood watch or police to the community through block captains and email
– be a basic participant

Watch committee:
– review trends
– make sure contacts stay up to date
– connect like minded people for new approaches – e.g. neighbourhood walks, inviting organisations to do household security presentations, etc.
